ReAgent Are Leading Deionised Water Suppliers In The UK

Deionised water is the standard grade of water that we supply, and is suitable for most applications. We also offer ultrapure grade water, which undergoes additional testing for applications that require a higher degree of certification. With almost 50 years as experienced chemical manufacturers, and as holders of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 13485 quality accreditations, all of our products are manufactured in accordance with strict quality standards.

Specifications of Deionised Water

Deionized water is ‘regular’ water that has had nearly all of its mineral ions removed, including sodium, calcium, copper, iron, and chloride.

It’s a type of demineralised water, which is a catch-all term for water that has had its minerals and contaminants removed, whether that’s by deionisation, reverse osmosis, or distillation.

Key properties of deionised water include:

  • Appearance: Clear, colourless liquid
  • Conductivity: < 1 μS/cm after purification
  • Purification Method: Ion exchange, UV sterilisation, and 0.2-micron filtration
  • Grades Available: Standard DI water and ultrapure grade
  • Packaging Options: 25L containers, 1000L IBCs, and bulk tankers

Uses of Deionised Water

Often abbreviated as DI, deionized water is used for a range of applications. Most commonly, it is used in laboratory and pharmaceutical environments to prepare chemicals and mixtures. Deionised water is also used to test certain substances for specific compounds. DI water is also used in:

  • Acid and alkaline batteries
  • Pressure testing new installations, such as oil and gas pipelines
  • Large scale heating and cooling systems
  • Flushing and topping up car cooling systems
  • Household detergents
  • Perfumes and other cosmetics

Production & Testing of Our Deionised Water

Deionised water is the standard quality water or general used grade that we produce.

For many of the chemical solutions and chemical reagents we manufacture, we tend to use pharmacopoeia grade water (either USP purified water, USP water for injection, or EP purified water).

ReAgent manufactures DI water using a twin-bed ion exchange process with both anionic and cationic resins to strip impurities. After purification, the water achieves an electrical conductivity of less than 1 μS/cm, outperforming traditional distilled water.

For applications requiring ultrapure standards, we add further purification steps, including UV sterilisation and 0.2-micron filtration, which remove trace particles and bacteria. This ensures the highest level of purity.
